Description:

            EDTA is extensively used initially for the chemical compounds ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. These colorless, water-soluble solid is widely used to dissolve scale. The usefulness of compound arises because of its role as a chelating agent, i.e. its ability to "sequester" metal ions such as Ca²⁺ and Fe³⁺.

            EDTA Series of products are widely appled in many areas. It mainly is used to sequester metal-ions in hte aquesous solution. Such as in the textile industry, it prevents metal-ions impurities from colors modification of dyed products. In the pulp and paper indutry, EDTA inhibits the ability of metal-ions, especially Mn2+, from catalyzing the disproportionation of hydrogen peroxide, which is used in "chlorine-free bleaching." In a similar way, EDTA could also be added to some food as preservative or stablilizer to prevent catalytic oxidative decoloration, which is catalyzed by metal-ions.
